10-day journey in the footsteps of the holy Family

Your program day by day:

Day 1: Welcome to Egypt

Arrival at Cairo airport.  Meet your private tourguide and transfer to the hotel. All transportations are in an air-conditioned vehicle.

Day 2:  Piramids and museum

Visit the ancient wonders on the plateau of Giza, the Great Sphinx, the Great Pyramids and the Valley Temple of Giza. After lunch be among the first to visit the new grand Egyptian museum in Giza. 

Day 3: Coptic Cairo

Discover Coptic Cairo with the visit of the church of the Virgin Mary, the hanging church and St. Sergius. Continue with the church of St. George and the fortress of Babylon in old Cairo, where the holy Family passed by. Lunch in a local restaurant in Cairo.

Day 4: Cairo churches

Transfer to El Matariya (Ancient Heliopolis Area). Visit the holy tree 'Mary's tree'. It is the tree under which the holy family took rest in it's shade. Also is said that the child Jesus caused water to flow from a spring from which he drank. 
Continue your visit to the church of the Virgin Mary in Zeiton area. An Italian artist painted the church ornamented by carvings of Jesus, the Virgin and many icons painted by Italian artists.

Day 5: Cairo / Mostorad / Kafr El Sheikh

Today visit Mostorad, known as 'El Mahamaah', meaning the bathing place. It is said that virgin Mary bathed Jesus here and washed his clothes. 
Then head to the small village of Meniet Samanoud, where it's people greeted the holy Family with warmth and hospitality. It is said the Christ blessed them and hallowed it's water spring in return. The remains of this church are buried under the currently existing church of St. Abanoub. In addition, there is a huge granit, claimed that the virgin used it for kneading. Continue to Sakha town near to Kafr El Sheikh. The Coptic name of the town is 'Pekha - Issous'. This means ' The foot of Jesus'. It's name is originated from the foot print of the Christ appeared on a stone on which he set his foot. Later you will see the church of the virgin Mary that reserves a rock with the footprints of the child Jesus.

Day 6: Tel-Basta / Tanis

Visit the town of Babastis (Tel-Basta). Here Jesus cause the flow of a spring of water to drink. 
Visit also Tanis, the main capital of the 26th dynasty. 
Afterwards, visit the small museum, a Ramses temple and royal tombs.
Back to your hotel in Cairo and overnight there.

Day 7: Red sea Monasteries/ Jabal Al Tair / Minya

Check out after breakfast and start a trip south along the coast to visit the Monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul. The tow monasteries are built in the 4th century. St Anthony Monastery is considered as the biggest monastery in Egypt. St. Paul's monastery is younger but is equally ornamented with beautifull artifacts. St. paul might be considered as the first monk ever.
Continue the trip following the holy Family to Jabal Al Tair (the birds mountain) near to Minya city, a 4 till 5 hours away from Cairo.
The holy Family rested in the cave at Jabal Al Tair. You will find there now an ancient church.

Day 8: Tuna El-Gabal/ Tell El Amarna / Assuit

In the morning visit the necropolis of Tuna El Gabal. Here you will find mummy's of baboons and Ibises representing the god Thoth. Also you will visit the tomb of Isidora, the tomb of the priest Pet-Osiers, the ancient water wheel and the boundary stele of Tell El Amarna, the city of Akhenaton and Nefertiti. 
Proceeding you will visit Al-Ashmunien and enjoy the open air museum with the two colossal baboon statues and the ruins of the basilica church with it's rose granite colums. 
Transfer to Assuit where you take the dinner and overnight.

 Day 9: Assuit - Cairo

Visit Al Muharraq Monastery. Here the holy Family stayed for 6 month's, the longest period spent at the same place. In this site, the holy Family received the divine message to go back to Palestine. 
About 8 km west of the monastery, you will find the rock-cut tombs of Miar. The tombs remain in great condition and the visit will be impressive. 
Transfer to the hotel in Cairo. 

 Day 10: Cairo and fly back

Transfer to the airport and filled with impressions you take your flight home.
